Paramount Records was an American record label known for its recordings of jazz and blues in the s and early s, including such artists as Ma Rainey and Blind Lemon Jefferson. Paramount Records was founded in by United Phonographs, a subsidiary of the Wisconsin Chair Recoordwhich trademarked its record brand from Port Record Company Milwaukee Companyy began issuing records the following year on the Puritan and Milwwaukee labels.

Buck in The use of the name "Paramount Records" was purchased from Buck by Paramount Picturesa previously unconnected company. Some of the company's recordings were said to have been thrown into the Milwaukee River by disgruntled employees when the company was closing in the mids.
